This site has a multiple search feature, therefore, you may look for several property characteristics at the same time. (Remember the map number and tax id number are unique numbers, and should not be used in a multiple search.)

Tax ID#:

Each piece of real property in Wise County is assigned a unique 6-digit identification number. e.g. 006263

Property Map#:

A unique set of numbers assigned to each piece of real property to obtain an approximate location on Wise County Tax Maps.

e.g. 051(01)018022-23-24 051 is the map number

(01) is the double circle number

018 is the block number

022-23-24 are lot or parcel numbers

Owner Name:

To search for a property owner by name, you can enter as much of the name as you wish, beginning with the last name and using no punctuation. For example you can enter Burton Ja, or Burton Jam or Burton James and all names will be displayed that match your entry.

*Searches are not case sensitive. BURTON, Burton and burton will all yield the same results.

Owner Street Address:

This address will be the MAILING address and not necessarily the physical address of the property.

Property District:

There are 10 different districts within Wise County, six of which are incorporated towns: Appalachia, Big Stone Gap, Coeburn, Pound, St Paul, and Wise; and 4 different magisterial districts:

Gladeville, Lipps, Richmond, and Roberson.

Property Class:

Each piece of property has a classification such as residential,

non-taxable, commercial, etc. To search by property class, click on the down arrow and choose from the list.

Property Type:

Each piece of property also has a property type. The property types are:

Fee Simple (land & minerals)

Mineral Lands

Mineral Lands Under Development

Minerals Under Development

Minerals Not Under Development

Non-taxable

Acreage:

Some properties will not have an acreage, such as lots located within a town. In these cases, the field will show 0 (zero).

* In order to speed up your search, please be as specific with your search as possible.

*If the system cannot find what you are looking for, you will receive a message: "Sorry no records found" on your screen. You may want to double check for any spelling errors or possibly a different way of spelling the name.

e.g. Short or Shortt; Bolling or Bowlin.
